Sažetak
The reconstruction of the ancient water supply system of Diocletian's Placa was chosen as the best solution for the first modern water supply system of the city of Split, built in 1880. It is a Roman water supply system built at the end of the 3rd century for the needs of the Palace of Emperor Diocletian. The water supply system was in operation until the seventh century. The ancient water supply system was no longer used until the 19th century and was gradually decommissioned as its stone material was used for new construction. With the construction of the water supply system of the city of Split in 1880, the Roman water supply system was put back into operation and thus saved from decay and disappearance. This has made a major contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage in the area of urban water supply. The same technological concept of the Roman aqueduct was retained.
