Sažetak
The aim of this study was to synthesize the TiO2- rGO (titania-reduced graphene oxide) nanocomposites as photocatalysts. The graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized from natural graphite powder by Hummer's method [1]. TiO2 sol was prepared by using titanium tetraisopropoxide as a precursor, i-propanol as a solvent, acetylacetone as a chelating agent and nitric acid as a catalyst [2]. The TiO2-rGO nanocomposites with different amounts of GO were obtained by a hydrothermal method. They were characterized by means of powder X-ray diffraction analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of the TiO2-rGO nanocomposites was evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of Methylene blue (MB) dye (dissolved in water) as a model pollutant with the irradiation by three different lamps: (I) a light-emitting diode (LED) lamp with a radiation peak at 365 nm, (II) halogen lamp that emits radiation predominantly in visible region and (III) Solar-simulator lamp. The concentrations of MB were monitored by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Obtained results indicated that photocatalytic properties of prepared TiO2-rGO nanocomposites depend on the amount of rGO and on the type of the radiation (irradiation source).
