Sažetak
Recently, one of the extensively studied classes of organic fluorescent sensors is that based on benzimidazole nuclei [1]. Benzimidazole nuclei is an attractive building block of such molecular structures due to multifunctionality of its heteroaromatic conjugated planar structure [2]. Also, due to the highly conjugated planar chromophore, the benzimidazole benzannulated derivatives offer promising applications in optoelectronics, optical lasers, fluorescence probes and organic luminophores. Within this work, we present the synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of imino-coumarin and Schiff base derived benzimidazole conjugates as well as pentacyclic benzimidazole derivative. For the synthesis of novel targeted compounds, classical organic synthesis reactions as well as microwave assited amination were used. To study and confirm the possibility of synthesized derivatives for their application as metal or pH sensors, UV/Vis and fluorimetric titrations of aqueous compounds solutions with aqueous solutions of metal chloride salts or different buffers were performed.
