Sažetak
Anatomy of vegetative buds of the Norway spruce (Picea abies) and their changes with onset of spring were investigated in order to better understand the physiological responses that had previously been described. The vegetative buds of Picea abies is composed of an embryonic shoot subtended by a cup-like, cataphyll-bearing structure from which it is separated by crown or nodal diaphragm of distinct cellular configuration. The boundary-line of lignification attained the base of the cup-like structure. Pectic substances and cellulose were concentrated in the thick walls of crown cells. Callous was proved in the sieve areas of the cup-like structure wall during the winter phase, less during the early spring and none during the spring phase. lipids were mostly present in embryonic pith cells and in loose cells of the cup-like structure. Proteins rich in basic amino-groups were concentrated in nuclei and less in cytoplasm and cell walls. in spring phase the changes in distribution of the cells with large, round nuclei in the embryonic shoot, especially in the leaf primordia were obvious.
