Sažetak
Twenty years after the UN report "Our Common Future", most of the problems defined then still remain unsolved. Global environmental crisis more than ever stand as a serious threat to global ecosystems as well as to the known edonomis paradigm. Serious changes in the direction of sustainable development will need to be done, for which some tough decisions will have to be made which will not be possible without political will as well as the will of all stakeholders in this process. Investments into environmetnal protetion can result in better productivity and more careful usage of the natural resources, what can represent lower cost and less pollution as well as less solid waste. These improvements can lead to better competitive advantage and are recognized as an important part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR), a tool for business sector to achieve sustainable development. Even though the CSR concept can significantly improve environmental, social and economic impact of companies, some of the problems are still remaining Global climate change crisis show that modern technologies no metter how advanced are do not have the answer to climate change and carbonfree energy production. The existing economic paradigm that rely on fossil fuels as primary energy sources and non- renewable natural resources as major basis for value creation do not offer answer to rising environmental problems. More partnerships between busienss and scientists is needed to create powerful and breakthrough solutions as basis for new environmentally friendly future.
