Sažetak
The Achilles tendon in rabbits is found, as in other species, on the back of the lower leg. It's made of tendons of three muscles: musculus gastrocnemius medialis, musculus gastrocnemius lateralis and musculus soleus. Not all parts of tendon have the same vascularisation properties. Therefore different segments of tendon should not heal equally. The goal of this study is to evaluate healing properties of different segments of Achilles tendon in rabbit model. 12 rabbits were used as a model because of their anatomic similarity with the tendon in humans and because of their calm nature and accessibility. The research was carried on rabbits of both sex, 6 males and 6 females, around three kilograms of bodyweight and one year old. In this study a Bonar scale was used to compare histological structures of scarificated tendons and intact ones. The result of histological examination confirms that the fastest and the best healing is in the part of the tendon attached to the muscle, then the part attached to the heel bone, and the slowest healing is in the middle of the tendon.
