Sažetak
Concern for the environment and its preservation is not only an individual, but a social issue, too. Vehicles cannot be left out from this issue, moreover, they top the list of “ ; ; ; ; the responsible” ; ; ; ; ones in terms of pollution. The Law requirements include ecologically acceptable engines, low-noise vehicles, low emission of exhaust gases and higher level of possible recycling. The developed countries have not been satisfied only by controlling the production of vehicles, but they have demanded periodical control of traffic vehicle exhaust gases. The purpose of the control is to determine the content of exhaust gases and some qualities of the exhaust and whether these are within limits which have been prescribed by the manufacturer or the law. The EKO Test has been used to test petrol driven vehicles in Croatia in compliance with the EU instructions. The application of EKO Test has resulted in more affirmative attitude towards the effects on the environment by means of adapting the engine, reducing fuel consumption, educating the drivers and the owners of vehicles, involving car mechanics, garage owners and others interested in the issue. The present data have led to some relevant data about the possible future situation.
