Sažetak
On the average, 10-15 % of patients are not satisfied with their new dentures, with progressive increase over time to 20-35%. Various studies show that some patients are overadapred to inadequate dentures. The aim of the study was to determine the difference between patients' and therapist's opinion of the full dentures (FD), as well as the influence of age) gender, level of education, number of previous dentures and period of edentulousness on patients' acceptance. Analogue-visual scale (1 -5) was.used by 222 patients and a prosthodontic specialist for assessment of various parameters. The results. showed that most patients were satisfied with their FDs, with the asymmetrical distribution towards the highest scores (quality, aesthetics, retention). The best scores from tth patients were obtained for retention of upper full denture (UFD)- 78, 4%, fonation- 79, 3%, comfort of wearing UFD- 88, 7 and aesthetics 72, l %. The worst grades were given for the retention of the lower full denture (LFD)- 11, 7% and for the overall. score of both FDs- 7, 2%. Negtive correlation existed between: the education and the scores for aesthetics ; the level of education and the period of being edentulous ; number of previous dentures and the scores for relention of UFD (p<0.0l)- Females had less previous dentures than males (p<0.0I). Patients with the first FDs gave the lowest grades for the retention of LFD- Prosthodontist graded only 30.6% of full dentures to the best category, which is significantly lower than the patients&#8217 ; ; s assessment -54% (p<9.0 1 ), and similar scores were obtained for retention, stability and aesthetics. In general, - the satisfied patients graded all the parameters better than prosthodontist and vice versa.
