Sažetak
Aim: The aim of this poster is to present a first aid handbook made for workers, employers, occupational safety experts and others involved in the field of work. Materials and Methods:The importance of basic first aid education is well known since long ago.Workers who are trained for basic first aid are obliged to take immediate action in an emergency situation at the workplace. As a result of that action, immediate help can be given to the fellow worker because majority of the injuries can be treated and stabilized until the arrival of emergency personnel. In that case the health condition of a fellow worker won´t deteriorate making survival rate in the workplace higher. The handbook „First aid in the workplace“is a practical guide to achieving the standards of health, safety and welfare in the workplace. It´s a result of a long-term activity of Croatian Institute of Public Health. Interdisciplinary team consisting of medical doctors, occupational medicine specialists, psychologist and administrator collaborated in order to make a simple and universal manual that is adjusted for non-medical experts and can be easily used in everyday work. Results: The final result of this activity is the “First aid in the workplace“ handbook. It´s planned that this handbook will be available to everyone interested in the field of occupational health and safety. It will also be easily accessible through the website of Croatian Institute of Public Health and, important to mention, free of charge. Conclusion: This handbook will be of help to those experiencing workplace accidents and hopefully will contribute in reduction of mortality rate in those unpleasant circumstances.
