Sažetak
Before application of coatings, various methods of surface preparation are used to remove contaminants and achieve optimum surface roughness. The classic methods of surface preparation such as sandblasting have been proven to be effective in the removal of corrosion products and to achieve the desired degree of roughness, but such a method of surface preparation requires a degreasing process. For this purpose, most commonly different types of surface cleaners are used. Thinners are often used, but for environmental reasons attempt to be replaced with a water based cleaner with the addition of corrosion inhibitors. The great advantage of the new method is that, at the same time, temporary protection against corrosion is achieved. Three water-based cleaners with a volatile corrosion inhibitor were studied, and their efficiency was compared with steel samples prepared by classical methods of sandblasting and degreasing by thinner. Acrylic coatings (with and without volatile inhibitors) were applied to the prepared surface. The tests were carried out in the salt spray and humidity chamber, after which the coating adhesion was tested by the cross-cut method. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed resistance of coating in 3.5% NaCl solution. Studied acrylic coatings containing volatile corrosion inhibitors showed better corrosion resistance in the humidity and salt spray chamber.
