Sažetak
In this paper the ability of hardness determination using velocity of ultrasonic pulses was explored. According to the previous research, analysis and results in this area, measurement parameters were defined and a test on reference hardness blocks was designed. Using the pulse-echo technique and calculating the ultrasound velocity based on time of flight measured by the digital oscilloscope, the test on reference hardness blocks was carried out to experimentally analyze the dependency of the ultrasound velocity and hardness. The ultrasound velocity, apart from chemical composition, depends on the microstructure. Therefore the determination of hardness just based on velocity measurement of ultrasonic pulses in the material, without knowing other relevant material information, is neither simple or explicitly defined.
