Sažetak
Psychosocial functioning includes a wide range of psychological and social factors, and their interaction. Complex procedure such as laryngectomy combined with associated larynx cancer therapies has a significant impact on everyday living and activity, and requires a major adjustments in psychosocial functioning. The aim of this study was to analyse the psychosocial functioning of laryngectomees. The survey was conducted in the University Hospital Center Osijek (Croatia), at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, and it included 35 laryngectomy patients of both sexes, with average age being 63.6 years. Data was collected using a questionnaire containing 8 variables related to psychosocial functioning. The variables were scored using the Three-point scale, when considering the quantitative frequency of interference. The results were statistically analysed in SPSS program for data analysing. Results register frequent interference on three specific variables, and point to the need for systematic psychological and psychosocial support during the adaptation period, more effective rehabilitation and improvement of quality of life after laryngectomy.
