The starting point in this presentation is the claim, repeatedly announced with tv crime genre series, according to which 'the following story is fictional and does nto depict any actual person or event'. I analyze this claim from the perspective of contemporary theories of fiction in order to explore some specific mimetic norms of crime series and the relationship between crime fiction and reality
