Sažetak
This thesis deals with the classification of modified phraseological units from the first three novels of Harry Potter series: Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. For the purpose of the classification Sabine Fiedler’s work was used, that is, we used the classification into conventional and special types of PUs and after that the classification of modifications. Phraseological modifications are more creative and demanding than the canonical PUs. The usage of modifications depends entirely on the author so the outcome of the research is next: out of 1117 PUs found in the series, 111 units were modified. The most common type of the modifications is expansion with 64 units, followed by substitution with 24 units. The type of PUs that was mostly used in modifications was phraseological nomination with 98 examples of PUs.
