Sažetak
In the world of tourism and travel changes are getting faster and more frequent every day and it is necessary to timely adjust the tourist offer and adequately respond to the tourist demand. Business tourism is considered to be a rapidly growing segment with an increasing number of congress destinations on the European market. An integral part of successful congress event management is an analysis of existing and potential competition, investment in congress infrastructure accompanied by rich destination tourism offerings, as well as follow-up of trends when realizing the congress itself. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the demands of congress tourism participants and to recognize new trends in the organization of congress events. By conducting the survey in the Croatian Istrian County with the 172 congress participants in May 2018 and analyzing their wishes and needs during their stay at the congress, conclusions about trends have been made. Voice recognition technology is becoming more advanced - as well as face recognition and biometric technology. Types of activities or characteristics of the destination are affecting the choice of location and communication campaigns of the congress. The venue for events and congresses is changing. These are just some of the news that follow the trends of the congress industry.
