Sažetak
We have irradiated CBA mice with 960 R whole body X-irradiation.Seventy-two mice, subdivided into 9 groups of 8 mice each, received allogenetic (C57BL) bone marrow cells: 5x1000000 were injected either on the day of irradiation (day 0) or 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 og 8 days afterwards, A further group of 78 CBA mices receic+ved syngeneic bone marrow: the number of cells and the interval between irradiation and the injection were the same as for the allodeneic bone marrow. Allogenein marrow saved all the recipients from acute radiation death when injected wthin the first 48 hours after irradiation. If given on later days it progressively saved fewer mice, so that among animalc receiving the marrow on the 8th day none had lived more than 20 days. Syngeneic marrow was moreveffective ; it prevent early death of all animals injected durung the first 5 days after lethal irrasiation. Its effestiveness declined with time, but syngeneic marrow remained more efficient than allogeneic marrow. We found no correlation between thetime of injestion ofthe allogeneic marrow and the mortality due to secondary disease in CBA recipiebts.
