Sažetak
Both oxovanadium(IV) and dioxovanadium(V) complexes exhibit ability to suppress growth and the spread of tumors. Chelating vanadium species with biologically active ligands and strong DNA intercalators can improve stability of complex compounds as well as synergistically enhance pharmacological activity [1].The reaction of [VO(acac)2] with H2L1-5in alcohol solutions in a stochiometric ratio 1:1 resulted in five [VVO2HL1-5] complexes, while the addition of 1, 10-phenanthroline to the reaction mixture yielded five [VIVOL1-5(phen)] complexes (H2L = tridentate 2-benzothiazolyhydrazone derivative ; phen = 1, 10-phenanthroline). Crystal and molecular structures of [VVO2HL1, 3, 5] and [VIVOL1, 3, 4(phen)] were determined by the single crystal X-ray diffraction method. In [VVO2HL1, 3, 5] complexes VO2+speciesis coordinated in a distorted square pyramidal environment with monoanionicONNligands through the phenolate O atom, the imine N atom and thiazolyl N atom. In [VIVOL1, 3, 4(phen)] complexes VO2+species is coordinated in a distorted octahedral environment. Dianoinic ONNligands exhibitmeridional binding mode leavingthe 1, 10-phenanthroline tobind at the axial-equatorial positions.Compounds [VVO2HL1-5] showed moderate anti-proliferative effects in very small concentrations, while compounds[VIVOL1-5(phen)] were highly effective in all tested tumor cell lines.
