Sažetak
Protective gloves are important part of personal protective equipment. The interviews with workers during obligatory periodic health examinations indicated problems in glove shortage, suitability and lack of information regarding safety at work. Therefore a survey was conducted in the sample population of safety experts who attended an educational seminar on protective gloves. The study discovered three major problems: (a) procurement of protective gloves solely by the lowest price regardless of their quality and suitability, (b) lack of proper, more focused training of safety experts about selection of protective gloves, and (c) poor training of workers on their obligations due to usage and maintenance of gloves and other parts of personal protective equipment. The survey confirms that if safety experts and workers are well educated in the field of PPE, than the safety is complied with and workers’ health is preserved, i.e. that efforts must be directed towards education of employers, safety experts and workers on occupational safety and health. A better safety climate in the company is only possible by providing knowledge, and regarding personal protective equipment, our educational tools should be specially designed and focused on the aforementioned target groups.
