Sažetak
The open debate on the question of unlimited semiosis semms in recent years to be shifting grounds. After an age of deconstruction, in which the story of dissemination held centre stage, the so called New Historicism initiated in the course of the eightees a kind of countermovement. It has put forth the concept of cultural poetics as battlefield of conflicting, hegemonic as well as subversive forces. In my analysis I shall compare this line of argument with the semiotic one developed by U. Eco.
