Sažetak
To understand the directions of regeneration and placemaking ahead of Rijeka 2020, analysing content from official websites and the 2020 agenda is an attempt to better understand the city’s strategy and approach ahead of the event. This chapter will address placemaking, regeneration and community participation, and when necessary will look to insight and successes from Glasgow and Liverpool to inform points and perspectives going forward. The chapter will address what worked well for both of these cities in subsequent sections based on findings from European Capital of Culture (ECoC) related research. This chapter’s geographical focus engages with the notion of placemaking, and an emphasis on regeneration and community participation points to the impact on society going forward.
