Uspjeh prezimljavanja različitih genotipova sive pčele (Apis mellifera carnica) tijekom dvije zime na području Baranje
The characterisƟc of Carniolan bee (Apis mellifera carnica Pollmann, 1879) is successful overwintering with a small number of bees. During two consecuƟve years (2015-2017) we have monitored the overwintering ability on 60 colonies of 3 different Carniolan bee genotypes in Baranja. Genotype 1 (G1, N = 36 colonies) is from CroaƟan breeding program and local origin. Genotype 2 (G2, N = 12 colonies) has never been influenced by arƟficial selecƟon and originates from Koprivnčko- križevačka County. Genotype 3 (G3, N = 12 colonies) is from a German breeding program and originated from the beekeeping insƟtute in Kirchhain. The overwintering success was measured with calculaƟng the overwintering index and winter food consumpƟon. The aim of this research was to invesƟgate influence of environment and infestaƟon with V. destructor mites on overwintering. In staƟsƟcal analysis, GLM model with Bonferroni post-hoc analysis was used, where genotype, year and its interacƟon were set as fixed factors, while the number of adult bee in November, number of visible pollen cells in November and adult bee infestaƟon in November were used as covariance. Genotype and adult bee infestaƟon in November had a highly significant effect (GLM, p<0, 01) on overwintering index. Overwintering index aŌer first and second winter was 75.38±2.61 % and 66.15±3.82 %. Colonies from G1 and G2 groups had significantly beƩer overwintering index than colonies from group G3. Year and number of bees in November had a highly significant effect (GLM, p<0, 01) on winter food consumpƟon. Food consumpƟon aŌer first and second winter was 3.65±0.16 kg and 5.43±0.22 kg of honey per colony, with no staƟsƟcal differences between groups. The research has shown a significantly beƩer overwintering of local colonies comparing to non- local colonies.
