Efficient spin gating with van der Waals heterostructures
We study the effect of the applied static electric field on spin polarization of graphene near a ferromagnetic surface. It was shown previously that the spin polarizarion changes if there is a buffer layer between the ferromagnetic surface and graphene. However, the electric fields required to obtain notable polarization are unreasonably large with dielectric buffer layer so in this work we propose to enhance it by swapping the dielectric buffer layer by a metallic one.
