DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT IN EDUCATION OF STUDENTS

It is not surprising that over the past decade a number of different educational software and ICT applications have been developed - from applications to increase reading speed, to fully customizable learning environments which would radically improve education. Despite many obvious advantages of digital education, there are some important challenges as well. For example, how to implement digital learning environment (or even educational software itself ) in the present context that is not primarily digitally oriented, such as an existing education system? The assumption of successful implementation of digital learning environment is the personal choice of tools. How to assess its value in terms of current knowledge and the assumptions on cognitive learning mechanisms? Collaboration between research, development and education results in innovation that has substantial effect, improving the teacher, the learning environment and students themselves. This paper presents the implementation of digital environment at the University College of Inspection and Personnel Management in Split on the example of group work dealing with business-related topics in English course. This paper outlines one approach of inclusion into digital learning environment, provides practical guidelines for effective application of new learning technologies, and covers many theoretical, political and pedagogical issues that defne digital education as an effective feld of study. Special attention is paid to open online teaching and learning. With the increasing number of multidisciplinary projects, there are more and more new ideas, methods and tools emerging in the feld.
