The Image and its Double: Eisenstein, Farocki and the Dialectics of the Visual

The proposed talk investigates the importance of the visual domain in the (new) economy of signs. I propose the reading of visual image as having potential by being incomplete, faulty or fragmentary by contrasting Eisenstein and Farocki. The inability to clearly disseminate the message is constitutive for the imagining of the alternative systems of visual production and circulation.
