Modelling of therapeutic cold plasma generator using finite element method
The cold plasma generator is a complex system in which many interrelated physical processes occur. PEP12 (Synergotron d.o.o., Zagreb, Croatia) is a device that can produce cold plasma for therapeutic purpose. Its work is based on high-voltage high-frequency Tesla coil coupled with gas-filled glass plasma electrodes. The aim of this study was to perform simulation and analysis of such system by finite element method using COMSOL Multiphysics. Key values of high importance that can greatly facilitate its understanding and better design were obtained and evaluated. 2-D axisymmetric and 3-D models of Tesla coil were made. Time dependent study was performed and values of magnetic and electric field around Tesla coil were observed. Stationary analysis was performed for 3-D model and inductance and resistance of the coil were calculated.
