Towards Further Development of the Low DT Engines

Demonstration of a new principle working with low DT, took place in Zagreb on 17th November 1982, at the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering of the University of Zagreb. The first international presentation of the same engine took place in the Inter-University Center in Dubrovnik in 1983. The first working model had flat-plate heat exchangers and was capable of running by using moderate sources of heat, which are below the human body temperature. Since then, better models have been built in both directions, either towards decreased or increased temperature differences. Because the engine power mainly depends upon the cube of temperature difference, ultra-low temperature differential has a more theoretical than practical meaning. On the other side, by using geothermal water, due to the cube law, engine power rises very rapidly, showing the way for the largest possible application in the prospective future.
