Five Types of the Managerial Behaviour in the Function of the ROI Leadership Model

Planning and controlling, as management functions, are positioned within the domain of learning, while leadership and organizing functions mostly pertain to personal management skills. When examining the efficiency of the managerial system, we cannot avoid using the Deyhle's ROI (Return on Investment) model (ger. WEG – Wachstum, Entwicklung, Gewinn). The ROI model, presented and described in the Croatian scholarly literature as a PUT concept, was designed as a bridge connecting the managerial techniques of leading and encouraging employees on one side, and the managerial techniques of planning and controlling on the other side. The link connecting these two pillars of the concept of the ROI (ger. WEG) managerial system, is the managerial behaviour. Behaviour, at all the management levels, is the key to a successful leadership. In this context, the management within the framework of the total controlling, i.e. the controlling planning is established as the basis for this concept. As the subject of the research, we provide the answer to the questions, such as: what type of the managerial behaviour are we talking about? and what does it contain? The purpose of the research is imbedded into the explanation of the system and the structure of the managerial behaviour which consists of five management by... models. We start with the Management by Objectives by P. Drucker, which is a target and an umbrella concept of the ROI managerial behaviour model, to end with the global Management by Motivation model. On the way towards the Management by Motivation model, there are five magament by...models of the managerial behaviour we need to go through. The aim of the research is to show, based on an example, how the five management by... models function in the process of the realisation of the goal and the overall ROI management concept. When it comes to the controlling planning which is based on the ROI concept of the Management by Objectives, it is the first one among the five models which should be taken into consideration, in order for it to be carried out. All the five models together eventually form the Management by Motivation model, which is the key to a successful management and a prerequisite for the realisation of the planned business objectives.
