Les blocs à décor architectural antérieurs au palais de Dioclétien à Split
The study of architectural decoration of four blocs found during the excavations in the second half of the 20th century in the basement halls under the floor of the southern corridor of the Diocletian’s Palace in Split, confrmed their dating to the Pre-Diocletian period. The applied motifs (egg and tongue, dentil pattern, anthemion, stirrup-framed leaf and dart) show similarity in their design and concept to those applied in the region around the middle of the second century. The author proposes the dating of the blocs to the Hadrian-Antonine period.
