An introduction to the law of nations: Natural law and public international law

Osvrt autora: ''Near the end of my active lifetime I decided to publish online manuscripts of two books for which I have not been able to find reliable publishers. I wrote them in English and French. Prospective readers can use these texts or their parts free of charge because I relinquished copyright in their respect. However, in case of referring they are kindly asked to make mention of the name of this author and the source. Below are titles and contents of each book followed by a list of my previous publications and a short biographical note. In my first writing entitled An Introduction to the Law of Nations: Natural Law and Public International Law I described among other things the relationship between some parts of Summa Theologiae by St.Thomas Aquinas and the quintessence of the teaching of Hugo Grotius in his masterpiece De jure belli ac pacis. Without that explanation the writing of Grotius is difficult to understand. After that follows the impact of voluntarism over the previous teachings of natural school of law throughout the period of the 19th century until the epoch of World War II. That very period dehumanized applicable rules of international law. The emphasis was here done on norms of positive international law concerning human rights and the law of war. In all of that I tried to find out some objective features of that law in its development. I wrote the second book entitled: Une histoire balkanique: Les mémoires d'un enseignant croate en droit international with the aim to outline the main events of the past in particular in my two homelands: Bosnia- Herzegovina and Croatia. These events are not well known especially in the French-speaking world. Probably I could never engage into this adventure in case of absence of a series of bloody conflicts in the Balkans at the end of the Twenties century. Their victims were some closest members of my own family, as well as a great many of other civilians and military personnel. I described here in addition the origins of my family which inhabited that part of Europe during the Austro-Hungarian rule. I described furthermore some ill-fated events in my professional career that usually happen all the times and in all parts of the world. Although strictly speaking this story is not a contribution to legal doctrine a curious reader cans learn from it the horrors of internal armed conflicts that never end in our planet. He can learn in addition some interesting details of life in socialist Yugoslavia.''
