Status lirskog subjekta u kanconijeru Džore Držića
This work discusses the lyrics of Džore Držić, Croatian Petrarchist from the end of 15th century. Držić's poems are analyzed according to the different identities their lyrical subjects can have. The following turns out: in Držić’s canzoniere prevails personification as the lyrical 'I', the first person singular; it typically simulates a non-literary, colloquial communication about love with a feminine conversation partner; with respect to the variants of Petrarchistic ideology that the masculine voice in his love poetry upholds, Držić stands the closest of all early Croatian Petrarchists to the orthodox readings of Petrarch’s Canzoniere. Comparison of Držić’s canzoniere with Menčetić’s proves to be most significant and fertile. It leads to the conclusion about essential differences between the two writers’ poetics.
