Graphitization of petroleum coke with additive addition
The catalytic effect of chromium and cobalt (II) chloride on graphitization of calcinated regular petroleum coke, treated at the temperature between 1500°C and 2400°C has been studied. Results of investigating the crystallite height (Lc) and interlayer spacing (d002) showed a remarkable catalytic effect of chromium when the metal contents was 5%, at the temperature of 2400°C, while the influence of CoCl2 on crystallographic parameters of investigated coke was insignificant.
