Children of early and preschool age spend their childhood in educational institutions. However, their growing up takes place in a time not covered by their stay in any of the institutions. Considering the fact that childhood institutionalization is a topic which is frequently talked about nowadays, the interest in spending quality time which is not only realized in the family community, but also, more and more, in early education facilities and other out-of- home programs aimed at the child and its benefit, becomes more important. That exact segment of life has proved to be an important predictor of the quality development of each individual. By participating in various activities, the child is enabled to develop a personal system of values, critical thinking, tolerance development, and human and ethical values. In this paper, a survey was conducted in the kindergartens of the City of Zagreb and the kindergartens in Sisak, Petrinja, Velika Gorica, and Velika Mlaka. 250 parents have, in an appropriately constructed Questionnaire on the Parents' Opinion on Childhood Instutionalization, assessed the importance of inclusion of children in different activities that are being realized in early education institutions and other out-of-home programs.
