Hybrid CCS/FCS Model Predictive Current Control of a Grid Connected Two-Level Converter
This paper proposes a model predictive current control (MPC) of a grid-connected two-level converter capable of providing a trade-off between minimization of switching losses and a low current ripple. For achieving low current ripple, modulator-based schemes are usually used resulting in a so-called continuous control set MPC. On the other hand, for achieving low switching losses, switches of a power converter are directly actuated resulting in a so-called finite control set MPC. In this paper a hybrid solution which benefits from both modulator-based schemes and direct actuation of switches is proposed. To enable specifying the maximum current ripple while minimizing the switching losses at the steady state a control invariant set is used as an optimization problem constraint. The performance of the proposed method is investigated through simulations.
