Characterisation of Surfaces on the Offset Printing Plate

By introducing the computers in the process, new materials are beein applied, bringing new conditions in the offset platemaking process. Alternative solutions are used concerning different substrates, like tracing paprer, and termo-stable foils, with are competitive in price and time to conventional materials, like lith film. Wetting of the printing and non-printing areas with a fountain solution was investigated in this paper, depending on the time of exposure to the light source, and with test images obtained on different substrates. The results are shown a possibility of application of such alternative materials, but within a limited range of exposures.
