Sustainable Funding for Social Supermarkets
Social supermarkets are social enterprises serving socially endangered citizens. As such, they encounter difficulties with finding adequate funding in timely and sustainable manner. Conventional investors usually remain uninterested in financing this purpose, what directs social supermarkets towards the social investment market. We investigate several selected financial models supporting positive economic, social and environmental impact as a potential funding solution for the specific purpose of social supermarkets. Our theoretical research provides and academic basis for understanding of the concept of social supermarkets and their specific financing needs. By recognizing enablers and hinders of funding of social supermarkets and by analysing selected financial models we provide a framework for a systematic approach to future research and discussion about this issue.
