Sažetak
Croatia's tourist offer has great potential. Tourists come from all over the world, but the resources for receiving a large amount of tourists are limited. In the last few years in the summer months there are extremes in electricity consumption. In addition to the air conditioners, the heavy load of the electric power system also creates electric boilers for heating the sanitary water. The problem is particularly pronounced on the islands where is no alternative solution. Most of the Dalmatian islands in Croatia have large areas under the olives, while olive and olive oil production remains a significant amount of branches, kernels and olive oil production waste. Large areas of the island are covered with forests, maccia and bushes, and they also have a certain potential for producing thermal energy from biomass. For this reason, in the paper are explored the possibilities of pellet production from the available raw materials of the island of Brač. The study of forest and agricultural potential of biomass of the island of Brač has been studied, available biomass samples have been collected and analyzes were carried out for the production of pellets. On the basis of the obtained data, input parameters and mixing ratios of raw materials were determined for production of fuel pellets with satisfactory level of quality.
