Sažetak
The infill masonry walls and its interaction with the reinforced concrete (RC) framed structure is a complex topic which needs a robust introduction to the theme. Besides considered non-structural elements, the infill masonry walls have an important contribution to the structural response of RC structures, as proved in recent earthquakes. Many structural damages were reported and associated to the infill panels’ presence as well as their poor seismic performance. This chapter aims to compile some of the state-of-the-art necessary to fully understand the influence of the infill panels in the seismic response of RC structures, it will be also addressed for standards and codes, with a special focus on the European recommendations. Finally, it will be presented the most common infill walls numerical modeling approaches available throughout the literature.
