COMPETENCIES OF TEACHERS FOR REALIZATION OF BEGINNER SOLFEGGIO

Beginner solfeggio, as a form of a preschool program, represents an individual program unity inside its own educational system, the music school. The teaching of Beginner Solfeggio is determined with the intention for the music education to begin at preschool age in order for the child's music capabilities, necessary for overcoming demanding tasks of further music education, to be professionally and systematically developed. The teaching of Beginner Solfeggio is completely based on an open curriculum in which all teaching activities, by the didactic pluralism of teaching strategies, are mutually permeated, according to the children's needs and interests, and the needs of further music education. In an open, freely constructed concept of teaching, an extremely competent and creative teacher is of the utmost importance. One's competencies refer to the fulfilment of complex educational tasks, design and flexible combining of teaching contents necessary to satisfy high profession demands ; the choice of teaching methods, strategies and processes and in their mutual combination, but also in applying new, freely constructed teaching concepts. Except for the professional and pedagogic competencies, what is very significant is working with preschool children who have the teacher's social and personal competencies, specific competencies which are oriented into creating a positive and dynamic environment, motivating children for an active participation in all teaching activities. This paper describes the research which has been conducted with the goal of determining the opinion of teachers about the competencies needed in order to successfully teach Beginner Solfeggio.
