Rage for Change: Role of Emotions in the Critical Thought of Selected Croatian Female Philosophers

In the first part of the presentation, I will discuss the classical relationship between philosophy and emotions. In the second part, I will propose a different view on that same relationship by bringing in the issue of motivation. In the third part, I will introduce three Croatian women philosophers that prove my point. They are Blaženka Despot, Jasenka Kodrnja and Gordana Bosanac. My basic hypothesis is that anger accompanied by the feeling of injustice not only poses no obstacles to philosophy but also occasionally has a major role in enabling it. Recognizing the positive influence of emotions both on the deliberations of justice and on the just action itself is not only beneficial for philosophy and science as a whole, but also for initiatives that are geared towards creating a better society and the world.
