The nonlinear cable structures dynamics - IGA approach

Cable structures undergoing large displacement and rotations are governed with expressions that are nonlinear in stiffness. This means that iterative approach will be required in each time instance of solving for dynamic equilibrium. Two integration schemes are implemented and compared: The composite time integration scheme and the Newmark integration scheme are applied to the nonlinear problem of space cable net subjected to step load. The example problem is split to three subproblems: firstly, initial configuration of the structure subjected to self-weight is solved for, then free vibration analysis for linearized initial configuration is performed and lastly, transient response to step load is obtained. In this paper isogeometric approach is implemented to the space discretization.
