Treatment of a brain oedema

Cerebral blood flow is significantly disturbed in the course of inflammatory central nervous system (CNS) diseases with brain oedema. Electrolyte dysbalance (hyponatremia) adds to the developement of brain oedema with all reppercussions for cerebral blood flow. The problem of hyponatremia, common in these patiens, and a consequence of inadequacy of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) secretion, cerebral salt wasting syndrome, and effect of medications, will be specifically addressed.
