A NOVEL POTENTIOMETRIC SENSORS OF CHLORIDE BY USING „HOME MADE” Ag2S/AgCl ION-SELECTIVE ELECTRODE ENRICHED WITH FexOy NANOPARTICLES
Lately, application of various nanoparticles (e.g. Ag, ZnO, CdO, graphene etc.) become very popular because of improvement of membranes used in electroanalytical sensors. [1, 2] It was described a development and testing of new potentiometric sensors for ion-selective electrodes based on membrane made of PTFE:Ag2S/AgCl = 2:1:1 by adding FexOy nanoparticles. Nanoparticles weight ratio were 0.1-1.0 %. Testing were performed in perchloric acid (pH = 0, 1 and 2). Membranes were built-in a “home made” electrode body. All membranes were tested to response of chloride and silver ions. All tested membranes had a linear response range to chloride in concentration range 5.0×10−6-1.00×10−1 mol L−1. The best ones (M78 and M86) showed linear response range 1.90×10−6-1.00×10−1 mol L−1 and 7.00×10−6-1.00×10−1 mol L−1, respectively. Limits of detection were 1.4×10−6 mol L−1 and 4.0×10−6 mol L−1, respectively. It was noticed significant loss of response to silver ions below concentration of 1×10−3 mol L−1. Scanning electron microscopy of, both surface in contact to solution and cross-section, analyzed tested membranes shown that all nanoparticles were by membrane surfaces.
