Optimization of ultrasound-assisted extraction of phenolic compounds from raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.)
Phenolics are compounds possessing one or more aromatic rings with one or more hydroxyl groups, generally involved in defense against ultraviolet radiation or aggression by pathogens, parasites and predators, as well as contributing to plants’ colors [1]. Raspberry is a functional natural fruit that is widely cultivated worldwide. Raspberries are rich of polyphenols. Ultrasonic- assisted extraction is an environmentally friendly method characterized by high efficiency, low energy consumption, and no involvement of high temperature or pressure. Ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) was employed for highly efficient extraction of polyphenols from raspberries. Concentration of ethanol described as green solvent, sonication time and extraction temperature was investigated for optimization of extraction of polyphenol compounds. Verification experiments were carried out under optimal conditions, and good agreement was found between estimated values and experimental values
