Influence Of Nozzle Flow Initialisation On Liquid Fuel Development At Early Stage Of Injection
Air pollutant emission reduction represents one of primary objectives in diesel engine research. One of the characteristics that affect the combustion process is the method how the liquid fuel is injected into the combustion chamber. Therefore, a detailed understanding of such process is of great importance. In this research, analyses of injection rate profile as the inlet boundary condition have been shown. Using the computational fluid dynamics software AVL FIRE™ the nozzle flow simulation was performed to address the influence of nozzle initialisation on the rate of injection profile. Afterwards, the spray simulation was performed where an early stage of injection was discussed. The results of liquid temporal and spatial distribution were verified, and the nozzle initialisation was discussed. It was shown that the initialisation of the liquid fuel within the nozzle plays a significant role for a proper spray inlet boundary condition at an early stage of injection.
