Toxic effects of chlorotolurone on the planarian Polycelis felina Daly.
Chlorotolurone is declared as an dangerous chemical compound used for plant protection. The aim of this work was to detect possible toxic effects of chlorotolurone on an aquatic organism, the planarian Polycelis felina Daly. Animals were treated with 0.010 and 0.025 microM of the herbicide solution. The results showed that chlorotolurone caused mortality, morphological, cytological and histological changes in the planarian. Epidermis and neoblasts were severely damaged. Damages to neoblasts inhibited normal regenaration.
