Three phase transformer grounding influence analysis on inrush current
The main object of research is analysis of grounding influence of three phase transformer on inrush current which occurs during switching of unloaded transformer on to electric grid. Inrush current analysis covers the area of transition behaviour of power transformers. For this purpose, a simulation model shown in Fig. 1 is developed [1]. The model can be used for determination of inrush current amplitude, time of duration and Fourier higher harmonics analysis of power transformers with different voltage level, power and connection. The main idea of model possibilities is given in [2]. Basics inrush current analysis, calculation and measurement is given in [3, 4]. Problems which inrush current can cause is given in [5]. As mentioned, type of transformer grounding can have influence on inrush current amplitude, duration, higher harmonic content and THD factor (Total Harmonic Disorder). Results of analysis on example of one power transformer (250 kVA, 20/0, 42 kV, Yz5) for cases of direct grounding, grounding through various resistances and isolated grounding will be shown.
