METHYLEN BLUE ADSORBENT BY AMORPHA FRUTICOSA L. ACTIVATED CARBON - PRELIMINARY STUDY
In this study, activated carbon derived from Amorpha fruticosa L. was evaluated as a potential adsorbent for removal of methylene blue dyes (C.I. 52015). The adsorption process with respect to operating parameters (contact time, pH, adsorbent dose, temperature, concentration) was investigated to evaluate the adsorption characteristics. Research of equilibrium, kinetics and thermodynamic studies was performed. The results indicated that the maximum amount of adsorbed dye (99, 78%) was reached at pH 5, 5 and at 20 min. This study suggests a potential use of Amorpha fruticosa L. for the removal of cationic dye from aquatic media.
