Research on quality of life of people with dementia
Abstract This review article discusses the quality of life of people with dementia as a syndrome that is characterized by the loss of cognitive abilities, resulting in loss of memory and the inability to rational thinking and making decisions. Quality of life implies a multidimensional term that interests different scientific disciplines. Systematic search of academic databases was done through Google scholars and the Web of Science database. With a detailed overview of the abstracts and article texts, the articles that will be used in this review article were selected. Other features and methods for searching and evaluating the quality of the articles have not been used. Research is focused on several levels of study. On the one hand, we examine the ways in which quality of life can be measured, while on the other hand we research the quality of life itself. From a literature review, a clear image of the measured quality of life of people with dementia is obtained. The quality of life of people with dementia takes an important place in providing care to people suffering from dementia. Limitations in filling the questionnaires at advanced stages of illness by the persons themselves tell the authors to deal with this topic and issue on a daily basis.
