The influence of ship's screw exploitation roughness on main propulsion machine fuel consumption
During exploitation, following changes occur on ship's screw: erosion, corrosion, clustering of sea organisms and deposition of chatodic salts on the surface of screw blades. Analisys of ship's screw exploitation roughness shows its influence on power and fuel consumption. Increase of ship's screw explotation roughness causes increase in propulsion machine's power, in order to achieve vessel'e projected speed. Increase of power increases fuel consumption. Fuel consumption represents one of the major factors in ship exploitation. Due to fuel consumption reduction demand (economic consumption) maximization og ship's screw effectivness, i.e. reduction of exploitation roughness by cleaning, grinding and polishing of ship's screw is tried to achieve. These treatments are done: - periodically, during ship's docking, - in harbour, underwater. Result of exploitation roughness reduction is increased effectiveness of ship's screw, which reduces engine power, i.e. fuel consumption.
