Modni dizajn u doba krize
The paper gives an analysis of the fashion design production in the midst of political and social crises in the first half of the 20th century. Under the pressures of political, economic and technological crises, fashion and clothing acquired new features and meanings and found new creative paths. The research covers the period of the Second World War focusing geographically on London and Paris, the two historically established fashion capitals where clothes were used to convey different messages and where innovation was born out of restriction and rationing of fabrics and clothes. Impulses coming from war-affected European cities exerted influence on the expansion of creativity in the United States and on Croatian territories where they were partially assimilated. The analysis has been based on surviving fashion and clothing artefacts, photographs and newspaper and magazine articles related to fashion.
